Yeti has plugged a gap in its hard cooler range with the compact new Roadie 8.
Arriving as the smallest member of the Roadie line-up, it’s a compact cooler which gets all the same features as the rest of the popular Roadie range.

As a result, you’ll still get the same ultra-strong design but in a smaller product which weighs in at 3.4kg unladen. In keeping with the rest of the Roadie range, the 8 has a pressure-injected polyurethane design that helps retain cold temperatures, while a cold-lock gasket prevents cold air from escaping and blocks out outside warmth.
A small difference to larger Roadie models is that the 8 gets a single latch – instead of a double version – which is designed to be easier to open with one hand. It also helps to make the Roadie 8 lighter.
Couple it with the cooler’s Smallhaul handle and you should have a cooler that is more mobile than most. It’s also equipped with Yeti’s Bearfoot non-slip base to stop it from sliding about. Yeti says that while the Roadie 8 is strong enough to sit on, it probably shouldn’t be used as a stepping stool, unlike other models in the range. There are also slots for tie-downs in case you need to strap the cooler to a truck bed or boat deck.

Yeti says that the Roadie 8 can accommodate up to 12 cans of drink or nine pounds of ice. Compared with the 22 cans or 33 cans that you’ll get in the Roadie 15 and Roadie 24, respectively, you can see how it fits into the smaller end of the range.
It’s also priced at £125, making it the most affordable way into the Roadie range. Available in five colours ranging from white to tan, it’s available to order via the Yeti website now.
