Finisterre is commemorating World Oceans Day with a limited collection of unisex t-shirts.

World Oceans Day, which takes place on June 8, is designed to highlight the impact of human actions on the ocean and help to ‘develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean’, according to the United Nations, and was originally proposed back in 1992 by Canada’s International Centre for Ocean Development, though it was officially recognised by the United nations in 2008.

It remains a key driver in raising awareness of the importance of the oceans and how they can be protected, with this year’s theme titled ‘Sustainable Fishing Means More’ and promoting sustainable fishing practices.

To help with the cause, Finisterre has partnered with Oceana, an international ocean conservation organisation founded back in 2001 on a limited collection of unisex t-shirts.

Lawrence Stafford, Head of Community, Finisterre, said: “We’ve always been inspired by and committed to protecting our ocean.

“A healthy ocean is crucial for providing oxygen, regulating climate, and supporting diverse marine ecosystems, as well as the important role it plays in supporting the livelihoods of coastal communities. We must act now to protect our ocean before it’s too late.”

The new limited run of t-shirts features three Ocean Activist-inspired designs, with prices starting from £38. Ten per cent from each sale will go towards Oceana, too. Check them out when they drop at the Finisterre website on June 8.
