Brompton has expanded on its traditional folding bike design with a new model aimed at those who like to travel further afield.
The new G Line is the first Brompton with the ‘ride feel of a full-size bike’, according to the brand, brought on through a new geometry and 20-inch wheels which get rugged Schwalbe tyres.
Arriving as Brompton’s first-ever 20-inch folding bike, the G-Line recieves a Shimano eight-speed shifting setup with a hub system design housed inside the rear wheel.

Will Butler-Adams, CEO of Brompton, said: “The G Line truly is the one bike to do it all. Brompton owners are passionate about their bikes but it has always been a bike optimised for cities.
“Now, as more and more people look to escape the city, exploring roads and trails less traveled, it was the right time to take everything that makes the Brompton so special, and make it capable of going beyond the urban environment and into tougher terrain.”
As with all Brompton bicycles, the G-Line can still be folded into an ultra-compact configuration ‘in under 20 seconds’ to help with easy storage and transportation. Riders can keep the saddle in place to help ‘steer’ the bicycle when half-folded, too, which can aid movement when you don’t need to ride the bike in its full unfolded position.

Priced from £2,399 G-Line is available in one of three sizes – small, medium and large – though this differentiation comes through various stem lengths, with all three sharing the same size frame.
The launch of the G-Line has been added to with the introduction of an electric model, too. The Electric G Line receives a 250-watt rear hub motor, while three levels of assistance allow the rider to tweak how much of a helping hand the electric system gives. Brompton says that riders can expect between 20 and 40 miles of assistance range from a full battery, too while the pack itself can be removed and plugged in elsewhere. At £3,499, the Electric G-Line does command a slight premium over the standard bike, too.
