Garmin has unveiled its new Fenix 9 and 9 Pro, introducing a range of features to the firm’s flagship smartwatch.
Heading up the launch is the new Fenix 9 Pro, which becomes the first Fenix model to get a hard-wearing titanium case. Garmin says that the watch’s construction brings together metal and plastic at a ‘molecular level’ which, in reality, should make it as tough as it gets.

The Pro benefits from an AMOLED display, with range-topping 51mm models bringing a huge 1.5-inch screen that represents a 15 per cent bump in size over the Fenix 8. It does this without increasing the size of the case, too.
You’ve got the option of solar-charging displays on the Pro, too, while an integrated LED torch gets a green-light mode to help increase night vision when out in the dark.
Both the Fenix 9 and 9 Pro get Garmin Epic, which is a new feature sitting within the Garmin Connect app. It’ll combine multiple activities into a single ‘story’, and users can then group activities into days, weeks or months.

Garmin has introduced new upgraded training capabilities, too, with new stamina zones and a stamina curve which can give users a better idea of their progress.
The Fenix 9 range gets an upgraded navigation system, too. With 50 per cent more RAM than the older model, the Fenix 9 can move through maps far more quickly than before while a new perspective view helps to bring extra detail when you’re out on the trail.
With 64GB of storage, the Fenix 9 can download twice as many maps as the Fenix 8 and up to 7,000 songs, too.
Available in 43, 47 and 51mm sizes, the Fenix 9 uses a scratch-resistant screen and comes with a 40-metre dive rating, too. Garmin quotes a battery life of up to 29 days for the 9 and 31 days for the 9 Pro. Solar charging models get a battery life of up to 57 days, too.
Both Fenix 9 and 9 Pro models will go on sale on August 28, with prices starting from £859 for the 9, and £949 for the 9 Pro.
