Danner has expanded its range with the addition of the new MTN45.
The low-cut and non-insulated hiking shoe gets a load of technical features, including an EnduroFoam Plus midsole which aims to bring extra rebound protection and improved shock absorption than your typical model.

With a robust leather upper, the MTN45 is backed by a Vibram Megagrip outsole with a wider traction lug platform for improved traction on slippery surfaces. There’s also a TPU rockplate to bring extra stability and a little extra protection from sharper impacts when tackling rough terrain.
Priced at £200 and available in Desert Moss and Black colourways, the MTN45, according to Danner, draws inspiration from the classic Mountain Light and, like that boot, can be recrafted to extend the life of the shoe even further. Designed for warm to cool weather, the MTN45 isn’t waterproof, though we reckon that you could add some extra wet-weather protection with a decent water-resistant spray.

Danner says that the MTN45 takes some influence from trail running and, as a result, features a DT6 last with a 9mm offset from heel to toe, with ‘slightly more width’ in the forefront for extra stability and a little more wiggle room. As with many Danner models, there’s a removable OrthoLite footbed, too, which combines multiple layers of different density foam for better comfort over longer journeys.
The new Danner MTN45 is available on the brand’s website now.
