Danner has expanded its popular N45 range with a new Mid GTX model.
Continuing from the regular N45 hiking shoe, the Mid GTX is a more traditional boot design which aims to provide extra ankle support for those more demanding days on the trail.
Designed to offer lightweight comfort, the N45 Mid GTX uses a lightweight, abrasion-resistant material for its upper, followed by an EnduroFoam midsole which aims to bring top-notch shock absorption.

Underneath, you’ve got a TPU rock plate for added stability and protection when you’re hiking over rough terrain.
Then, you’ve got a Vibram outsole with Traction Lug and Megagrip technology for added grip over slippery surfaces. There’s even a Gore-Tex Invisible Fit construction, which should help this boot to fend off wet or damp conditions, with Danner claiming that the N45 Mid GTX is a waterproof boot designed for warm to cool weather. The Invisible Fit system takes Gore-Tex’s waterproof membrane and bonds it to the upper to bring an extra level of flexibility.
Both the gusset and tongue of the N45 Mid GTX are created from foam-core fabric that looks to provide both comfort and durability, while the OrthoLite footbed included in the boots can be removed should you need to.

Danner says that the N45 Mid GTX can also be recrafted with a new sole, though its liner cannot be replaced ‘due to the more sleek and minimal outsole construction’ of the boot.
Available in a variety of colourways – as well as both women’s and men’s sizes – the new Danner N45 Mid GTX is available via the brand’s website now, priced at £230.
