The very best adventure gear taken to the most amazing of places

Shackleton has added a new do-it-all outerwear piece in the form of the new Frank Hurley Field Jacket.

Priced at £895, this Field Jacket has been designed with ‘deep respect’ for Australian explorer and photographer Frank Hurley, who conducted a number of gruelling expeditions to Antarctica and also acted as the official Australian photographer during both the First and Second World Wars.

The Field Jacket has also been made in collaboration with Leica Ambassador Levison Wood, an author, explorer and photographer who has travelled through over 100 countries while documenting his experiences.

As a result, the Frank Hurley Field Jacket has been equipped with a variety of functions to help photographers deal with the very worst conditions, though you don’t need to be a snapper in order to take advantage of this coat’s many features.

It has a fully waterproof construction with seam-sealed technology and aquaguard zippers ensuring you stay dry no matter the conditions. A microfleece-lined collar helps to boost comfort levels further and there’s a chin guard for added warmth too.

In keeping with the photography-inspired design, the Field Jacket also includes a number of dedicated spaces for items such as lens caps and batteries, while a branded lens cloth is attached to a retractable auto device so it can be used at a moment’s notice. Plus, a Primaloft Gold Insulation pocket has been equipped to store battery packs, protecting them from energy-harming sub-zero temperatures.

The whole jacket is fully adjustable, too, with a stowaway hood, adjustable cuffs and waist adjuster ensuring that you get an ideal fit. Shackleton says it’s ideal for temperatures ranging between five and 15 degrees Celsius, so could provide an ideal top layer with warmer garments underneath.

The Shackleton Frank Hurley Field Jacket is available to order now.
