Danner is exploring its classic heritage in a series of new pieces which blend traditional design with modern-day technology. 

The new Performance Heritage Collection is ‘deeply rooted’ in Danner’s Pacific Northwest homeland and, as a result, incorporates a range of timeless features which are underpinned by fully technical materials. 

Take the Cascade Crest Packable GTX jacket. Priced at £468.67, it’s got a classic silhouette, but features a three-layer Gore-Tex membrane alongside taped seams and zippered ventilation. It’s both breathable and fully waterproof, so could prove ideal for when you’re caught in a serious downpour. Danner has also released a set of trousers to match up with the jacket which incorporate ankle zips to help take them off when wearing boots. 

Yoji Kaneda, director of lifestyle footwear/apparel for Danner, said: “The Performance Heritage Collection reflects the casualness of how folks enjoy the outdoors in the PNW—our backyard. We can be in the middle of the woods, stand in a river, and adore rock formations in the high desert all on the same day.

“The variety of materials used in this collection ranges from natural materials like cotton, leather and down, combined with technical water-resistant treatments and modern materials like Cordura, GORE-TEX and Primaloft. The styles are a reflection of our material knowledge learned from decades of boot making history. Sometimes, garments don’t need to look or feel a certain way to enjoy in the outdoors.”

The Woodsman GTX jacket, meanwhile, has the look of a classic outdoor chore hunting jacket, with a boxy design and hallmark touches such as a real leather collar and snap-off hood. There’s even a zippered ‘game pocket’ at the back, which is traditionally used to store small game – or even fish – when you’ve been out hunting. However, it’ll still prove useful if you’re looking for somewhere to keep your gloves or dog lead. 

But it’s also got a fully waterproof Gore-Tex construction, ensuring that the worst of the weather can be kept at bay. It’s available in both mens and women’s sizing. It’s priced at £477.35
