The very best adventure gear taken to the most amazing of places

Vans has introduced a fresh take on its classic Old Skool with a trail-ready series.

The new OTW Old Skool 36 Trail Vibram uses one of the brand’s most iconic shapes as a platform but introduces a number of rugged features to help it cope off-road.

The skate silhouette with outdoor performance sees the Old Skool 36 equipped with Vans’ first-ever custom Vibram outsole and midsole, with the former gaining the brand’s recognisable checkerboard pattern. This pattern wraps up around the toe and heel, providing additional protection against impacts.

A white EVA midsole contrasts the main body of the shoe and combines with the rest of the structure to create a comfortable yet reinforced wearing experience. The upper, made from Duneema – which the brand calls the ‘world’s strongest fibre’ – aims to deliver ‘lightweight breathability and exceptional durability’, while a Fidlock lacing system should make putting the shoes on and taking them off again a breeze.

The lacing system also means you can adjust the tightness of the shoe quickly and easily and shouldn’t be tricky to use if you’re wearing gloves, either.

The new shoe is available in two colourways – Olive and white-grey – with the former getting a matching midsole and the latter receiving a contrasting-colour one.

There’s no official word on UK pricing just yet, but via the OTW website, you’ll find the Old Skool 36 Trail Vibram priced at $160.
