Adidas has opted for maximum flower power with its latest campaign for the SL72 trainer.
Headed up by Bella Hadid, the new campaign aims to ‘shine a light’ on the SL72 trainer which was first introduced back in 1972. Adidas says that this shoe was the ‘spark plug’ that kickstarted a fundamental change in running shoes.

Now, it is reviving the SL72 with five colourways of white, red, black, blue and yellow all being used to adorn the running-influenced shoe.
The new campaign has opened with a number of famous faces including the aforementioned Hadid, footballer Jules Kounde and musician Melissa Bon to name but a few. Each so-called ‘Original’ holds a bouquet of flowers to represent each individual colourway.

All versions get an EVA midsole and a rubber outsole, as well as a nylon upper with suede overlays for that classic appearance. Inside, you’ll find a fully synthetic lining while a textured tongue gives some extra grip for when you’re pulling them on.
New Silver Metallic and Aurora Black have since been added to the SL72’s range, providing a more space-age appeal to this classic silhouette. All versions of the SL72 are available to order now, priced at £80.
