The very best adventure gear taken to the most amazing of places

Danner has released its new Mountain 600 Leaf GTX hiking boots which bring the same hard-wearing design as the original but with a new recraftable design.

Based on the same design as the Oregon firm’s best-selling hiking boot, the Mountain 600 Leaf GTX is Danner’s first ‘recraftable lightweight hiker’ which features a sole that can be replaced time and time again. It’s a service which is offered via Danner’s Recrafting Program, too, with an in-house repair service able to replace a boot’s sole.

A Vibram SPE midsole is designed to offer excellent comfort and durability while keeping the boot’s overall weight low, while a Fuga outsole gets self-adaptive lugs and Megagrip rubber technology to ensure plenty of grip on a variety of different terrains.

You’ll also find Gore-Tex waterproof technology inside these boots, too, though it uses 45 per cent post-consumer recycled materials to lower the environmental impact. Outside, there’s a full-grain leather finish which is contrasted nicely by a set of Danner’s trademark red laces.

“We firmly believe that a high-quality product such as a Danner boot should stand the test of time,” says Kate Maciejowski, senior marketing manager for Danner. ”We’ve put the Mountain 600 Leaf GTX through the same rigorous testing that all our boots undergo, everything from raw materials to on-trail testing. We’re proud to say it performs to our high standards, while also incorporating recycled materials.”

The boots weigh in at 0.997kg for a men’s size 10, or 0.907kg for a women’s size 7. They’re available to order via Danner’s website, too, priced at £220. It’s the same price as the standard Mountain 600, too.
