Specialized has introduced a new alloy version of its popular Creo, bringing its price point down without losing any of its must-have features.
The new bike, which starts at £4,000 – £1,000 less than the entry Turbo Creo 2 Comp – the new bike comes finished in Specialized’s strong yet lightweight E5 alloy. The brand says that the new Creo 2 offers ‘unmatched capability, amplification and compliance’ in order to make it ‘the most capable drop bar e-bike ever made’.

At the Creo’s heart sits a Specialized SL 1.2 electric motor which brings 33 per cent more power than the previous iteration. There’s a total of 50Nm of torque, too, while 320 watts ensures that it can assist at speeds of up to 28mph – depending on region – for up to 120 miles.
The Creo 2 also incorporates Future Shock 3.0 which brings 20mm of travel to help take the brunt of any impacts. Blend that with chunkier rubber and you should, in theory, have a bike which floats across road imperfections. S-Works and Expert models get a more complex Future Shock 3.3 setup – which uses a hydraulically damped system – while Comp models get a 3.2 variant.

Wide forks allow the Creo 2 to accept up to 2.2-inch tyres for gravel work, while a light overall weight means you could fit a set of slicks and head out on the tarmac just as easily. A slacker head tube angle and a lower bottom bracket all help to promote stability and ease of use while also taking the strain from the rider’s hands, neck and shoulders.
Mounting points for front, rear and low-rider racks mean that you can quickly transform the Creo 2 into a long-distance adventure bicycle, too. Connect to your smartphone via the Turbo Operating System app and you’ll be able to get a tailored approach to the electric motor’s power delivery, while an app-based ‘trainer’ can even help make your riding as efficient as possible.
