Specialized has added to its range of helmets with a new Search model while introducing a trio of new Recon cycle shoes. 

Designed to offer an experience ‘like having an air conditioner on your head’, the new Search aims to deliver the kind of tech-heavy approach that you’d find on Specialized’s S-Works models but with a more day-to-day appearance. 

Angled towards all types of riding, be that on gravel, while commuting or anything else between, the Search has got huge air inlets to help keep the rider’s head cool. However, it’s still packing all of the safety equipment that you’d want, including Mips Evolve Core Solution and a five-star rating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. It’s on sale now at £125. 

Specialized has also updated its Recon range of riding shoes. Designed for off-road riders primarily, the Recon 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 all get Specialized’s Stride technology which helps to balance out stiffness – for better power transition – and flexibility so that they remain comfortable when you’re off the bike.

As a result, they’re easier to walk in – there’s no need to be hobbling about when you’ve stopped for a coffee. 

Specialized says that the trio of cycling shoes ‘improve comfort, increase power by 7 watts, and reduce the risk of injury’. Prices start at £100 for the Recon 1.0, rising to £210 for the Recon 3.0.
