The very best adventure gear taken to the most amazing of places

Strava has added its Best Efforts feature to the cycle-focused Ride portion of its app.

The function, which has previously only been available for the running segment of the application, allows both indoor and outdoor cyclists to measure their ‘Best Efforts’ for distance, cumulative elevation gain, biggest single climbs, power and time for relevant intervals.

Available for paid-for Strava mobile subscribers, the feature will give riders the chance to ‘further track progress and chase new records’, according to Strava.

In a similar vein to the ‘Run’ portion of the app, the Best Efforts section for Ride can be viewed at the bottom of the user’s ‘You’ page on the Strava mobile app. It’ll track a rider’s top three efforts in five categories while also collating all the relevant data to make it easy to read and compare.

It’ll measure best power outputs at intervals from five seconds to one hour, too, while also visualising a rider’s top five efforts historically for each year so that you can see how far you’ve come. Strava says that it’ll measure intervals from 10km up to 180km, too.

The Best Efforts feature was introduced for runners last year and tracks their endeavours over distances of between 400m and 50k.

As mentioned, the Best Efforts can only be accessed by users with a paid-for Strava subscription, which currently costs £8.99 a month or £54.99 per year.
