Canyon has released a new version of its popular Grail gravel bike. 

The new bike features ‘optimised’ aerodynamics while the geometry has been tweaked to make it more stable at higher speeds without losing out on agility. It also pinches the seatpost from Canyon’s Ultimate road-riding group to help boost comfort. 

The range kicks off with the Grail CF SL, but to bring to price down it misses out on some of the headline features of the new bicycle, such as the Load down tube storage system and the Gear Groove interface on the double drop bars. The CF SL starts at €2,699 or around £2,329.

However, both of those come into play if you step up to the Grail CF SLX, which is available with both 1 and 2by electronic shifting options via either GRX Di2 or SRAM Force gearshifting systems. Move to the CF SLX and the price bumps up to €4,999 for the Di2-equipped model or €5,299 for the SRAM version with Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels. 

Topping the range is the CFR, which is the lightest of all the Grail models. It’s got full Di2 shifting, while an upgraded CFR AXS adds in a Quarq power meter. Then, there’s a limited-edition Grail CFR Limited of just 70 that will be created. Compared with the Grail CF SLX, the CFR brings a 118g weight saving plus a 10 per cent increase in stiffness.

Get saving, because the Grail CFR Di2 will cost €6,999 while the limited-edition CFR LTD clocks in at a hefty €10,000.
