Altra has launched a new low-drop road running shoe that has been designed to be accessible to more runners. 

The AltraFWD Experience is here to deliver a more natural, close-to-barefoot-type experience and has been designed to make sure each run is smooth and speedy. A lightweight compression-moulded foam setup is there to make things easy and ‘effortless’ for all different types of runners, while its 4mm low drop bridges the gap between zero and high-drop runners.

“Since the start, we’ve been all about creating what people need and sought to build shoes that work with your body from road to trail. We’ll never stop catering towards the Altra loyalists that are all about zero-drop, but we are super excited to expand our line-up and create a low-drop shoe that helps make Altra accessible to more runners – especially those that haven’t wanted to take the full leap into zero-drop.”

The AltraFWD was tested thoroughly to ensure that it could return a feel that was both natural and effortless, according to Altra, and weighs in at 240g in men’s or 201g in women’s. 

It’s just gone on sale online, too, via Altra’s website. You’re looking at £130 for a pair, with four colourways available in both men and women’s ranges.
