Hoka’s new Stinson has arrived, bringing an extra-cushioned approach to trail running.
Priced at £160 and available in men’s and women’s sizing, the new Stinson 8 takes many of Hoka’s learnings from road running and transfers them into a more rugged trail-ready shoe.

Designed for a ‘stable ride that still feels super plush’, the Stinson 8 builds on the older 7 with a softer level of foam beneath an H-frame midsole that aims to provide a high level of cushioning with the stability required for trail running.
This is added to with a cage overlay which brings extra support and a more secure fit. This is mixed with a durable mesh upper with woven overlays for breathability, so it should prove to be a useful shoe in warmer climates.
Like the Stinson 7, the new 8 aims to blur the line between a road and trail runner, so it should be just as capable on tarmac as it is on gravel. However, with its chunky lugs and durabrasion all-terrain rubber outsole, it’s certainly more closely angled towards those off-road adventures. Hoka says that the 3.5mm lugs take their inspiration from gravel bike tyres, too, while a slightly higher cuff separates it from the Speedgoat 7 and Challenger 8 models within the Hoka range.

At 320g for a UK men’s 10, the new Stinson 8 is also the lightest model to have been produced within the Stinson range to date.
Available in three colourways – Frost/Black, Varsity Navy/Faded Navy and Black/Hoka Citrus – the new Stinson 8 can be ordered from the Hoka website right now.
