G-Shock has introduced a special-edition version of its famous Mudman created in collaboration with the Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body racing crew. 

Built to reflect the gruelling nature of the famous Dakar Rally – which the TLC team is taking part in – the Mudman GW-9500 features a dual-layer LCD screen and a dust- and mud-proof structure. 

The black pattern on a brown base colour mimics the dust and sand that gets into every nook and cranny of a Dakar racer, while the ionplating on the front button guard has been given the same finish to tie the look together. 

There are also red and black elements which are the same as the ones you’ll find on the Land Cruiser 300 Sport truck, which is being raced by TLC in the Dakar. A number of these red elements help to liven up the overall look of the watch and you’ll find them in a variety of places, including the button at 3 o’clock and the side surfaces. 

The band and case back also get the Team Land Cruiser logo while when the LED backlight is activated, a TLC graphic appears on the screen. As with other G-Shock models, this Mudman gets a number of bio-based resin parts to help reduce the watch’s environmental impact. 

It’s also the first of the GW-9500 models to feature stainless steel bezel parts, which surround a screen which relays time and even a bearing indication to help travel to a destination in an emergency. 

The new special-edition Mudman will be available priced at £399.
