Adidas has added to its popular Skychaser range with a new AX5 model.
Designed for ‘fast hikes, rugged trails and everything in between’, the new member of the Terrex range brings a lightweight design backed by rugged elements to help bring a balance between comfort and traction.

It’s got a hardwearing ripstop upper to help fend off glancing blows, while a Continental rubber outsole brings extra confidence when heading off the beaten path. There’s also an OrthoLite sockliner and Lightmotion EVA midsole to help boost comfort even further.
The new Skychaser AX5 hiking shoes are available in two colourways, too – Shadow Olive/Carbon/Savnna and Preloved Teal/Carbon/Grey Two. We’re big fans of the latter as it gives the AX5 more of an old-school appearance, though go for Shadow Olive if you’re after a more undercover look and feel.

At 410g in a UK size 8.5, the AX5 certainly lies on the more lightweight end of the hiking shoe spectrum and some way under the 434g of the Skychaser Gore-Tex hiking shoes. Though offering Gore-Tex waterproofing, those shoes do carry more of a premium at £140, too.
Available via the Adidas website today, the AX5 comes in at a very budget-friendly £85.
